School levels
An anglophone Form 5, a francophone Terminale and a CETIC 4ème année are not the same class at different difficulties. They are named, marked and examined differently, so DIGISCHOOL carries each ladder as it is.
Four rungs, one stage: high school is the second cycle of secondary rather than a stage of its own, which is why Lower Sixth and 2nde sit on the same ladder as Form 1 and 6ème.
The levels themselves
Secondary runs two cycles. The first ends at the Ordinary Level, the BEPC or the CAP; the second runs to the Advanced Level, the Probatoire and the Baccalauréat. DIGISCHOOL splits the roll on that line on the dashboards, the report card and the examination entries, because a school counts them separately.
The class names a school actually uses, in every sub-system it may run. A bilingual school carries two of these ladders side by side, and a technical college runs its own in either language.
Three ways to assess
Marks are the default and they are not the only mode. Each level carries its own, and the report card is built from whichever one applies, so a competency-assessed 4ème beside a ranked Upper Sixth gets the right document for both.
A mark out of the level's own denominator, averaged by coefficient and ranked. What almost every secondary level uses.
A competency is acquired, being acquired, or not acquired. Three codes and no arithmetic: the MINESEC competency reform, recorded the way the reform asks for.
The teacher's own words and nothing else: no figure, no average, no rank. A practical or remedial level where a mark would say less than a sentence.
At the end of each cycle
Fourteen papers across three boards: the Cameroon GCE Board, the Office du Baccalauréat and MINESEC. DIGISCHOOL offers a school only the ones its sub-systems actually enter candidates for, so an anglophone grammar school is never handed a Probatoire entry form.
The ladder is one axis and the sub-system is the other. Anglophone, francophone, bilingual and technical schools mark, report and examine differently at every rung of it.
Registration creates an empty school that only you can see. Nothing is shared with any other school on the platform, and there is nothing to cancel.
